So the 2 Peas blog challenge is to document our birth stories......
September 1999, my ship arrives in our new port located in La Maddalena, Italy. On the pier waiting for me is my adoring fiance Brian. He had flown over to meet the ship while I road the ship across the ocean from Virginia to Italy.
August I begin to feel "odd" thinking that maybe I was having a hard time adjusting to the new time zone and climate I kept passing it off. Then comes the day Brian and I sit next to each other for lunch onboard the ship, a smell suddenly makes me ILL. It was the ranch dressing on his salad which was very strange as I am known to load the stuff on myself. Brian looked at me and said "Your pregnant". I thought he was NUTS!
July 1999 Brian and I married in Palua, Italy
January 2000 Brian and I are sent to sit and wait in the "Storks Nest", when all of a sudden I awake one night to get some water, I feel a snap when I sit up, go to the bathroom and well I do not remember relaxing lol but something came out so I just assumed I was to tired to pay attention, wiped and went back to bed. I return to the bed and something just feels off so I run back to the bathroom and sure enough another gush! This time I knew it was not me and I proceeded to wake Brian up. What does Brian do? He rushes to the shower! I sit on the toilet as I do not want to make a mess anywhere and he takes a shower!!!! Even puts gell in his hair and deadorant on! I tell him to call for a duty driver to take me to the hospital and when he FINALLY does I hear him say "you may want to put plastic on your seats, she is gushing!" I was so mad I just wanted to be in the hospital. 23 1.2 hours later I am taken to the OR for an emergency c-section. They tried three times to numb me with no success so they had to put me to sleep. When I woke I was informed that I had given birth to a 10lbs 10oz baby boy who mind you was a month early!
January 2001 I was in my 5 month of my second pregnancy. One night I went to use the bathroom and discovered I was bleeding very heavily. I passed out and Brian called 911. I was in and out of the hospital for quite sometime and was even kept there for sometime while connected to a morphine drip. The morning of January 13, 2001 I was alone in my room, I felt the need to use the restroom, beeped for the nurse and was told to wait over and over. Finally I could no longer wait so I got up, unplugged my morphine drip from the wall and wheeled myself to the bathroom. It was the worst morning of my life! As I sat on the toilet I witnessed my precious Matthew fall into the cup they had kept in the toilet bowl to monitor my blood loss. He was squirming, I was screaming and pulling so hard on the alarm rope. People came but did not know what to do, he passed 10 minutes later. To this day we have no answers as to what happened.
June 9, 2003 my c-section date was moved up for baby number 3. I was awake for this entire procedure. My baby girl came out weighing in at 11lbs 5oz agian another baby for me that was a month early.
Now as I type this I am expecting baby number 4. I am already listed as high risk and being monitored very closely. I can not lie, I am very scared however at the same time I am very excited! This is our last child.
